Hi,
I just bought a new I7 7700k, question is should i go for Z170 and update the bios or Z270 ?
Since Z170 boards are much more cheaper nowadays. Are there any issues using a 7th gen on Z170 board ?

Thanks in advance

Solution
The main issue is that IF you get a motherboard with a BIOS old enough that it doesn't support your CPU there maybe no way to update to a BIOS that does support the CPU without buying a supported CPU. The 7xxx series CPUs have been out long enough that should be less of an issue now. BUT it is a possibility.

most of your z170 boards will run all the sky lake & kaby lake processors and will run up to the I7 7700 cpu with bios update but over all performance with my Msi z170 xpower titanium edition 16Gb of geil Potenza ram and the I7 7700k rosewill Glacier 1000w 80+ bronze PSU runs excellent & is able to play any game including Need For Speed or app that I put at it so if your looking forward to upgrades in the future like to the I7 8700k coffee lake than you will need a z270 board pending the manufacture of the board infact when I called in to msi tech support they said they are working on a bios update to run the 8700k 6 core cpu on the z170 chip set

OFFICIALLY, from Intel, there is no support for 8xxx CPUs with less than a 300 series motherboard. Do not bet on backward compatibility.
