Z68 Motherboard ( Overclocking and Integrated GPU used together )

My question is about z68 motherboard.

if i am using z68 motherboard and using integrated Graphic ( I-GPU ) and want to do overclocking as well at the same time,

so is it possible to overclock both Integrated GPU and CPU WHILE USING INTEGRATED GPU?



because i read on internet somewhere that with z68 motherboard either you can use Integrated GPU or you can do overclocking but NOT BOTH TOGETHER.

You can overclock both at the same time -- that's the primary advantage of Z68. Another is that you can use both a discrete graphics card and the Sandy Bridge integrated graphics plus Quick Sync (with the help of the Virtu software). Using that software, it will switch to the best graphics for what you're doing.

If you get a intel mobo with either of the chipsets then following are possible:

H67 chipset: use Integrated OR Discrete Graphics but no CPU overclocking

P67 chipset: Discrete graphics only + CPU overclocking

Z68 chipset: use Integrated OR Discrete Graphics + CPU overclocking

If you have the Virtu software, then it is possible to use both the Integrated and Discrete Graphics so that you can have the best of both worlds ie QuickSync and Discrete graphics for gaming

Also to do CPU overclocking you need to have a K series processor.

I read on internet that in May 2011 z68 will be released, but i have a question that is

is it like intel will release only specification about z68 or intel will release chipset z68 in may 2011 and it will take more time to

have z68 motherboard available out in market from any motherboard company like ASUS, GIGABYTE OR INTEL.

Appears that the GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 is already out in a few markets. Can not personally confirm.

UD4 and/or 5 should follow shorthly there after.

Yes, it's typical for Intel to keep release info and especially chipset or CPU secret. Like the potential skipping of X68 to Z79. Also, next is the 'Panther Point' and looks to render P67, H67, Z68 obsolete in matter of months; I've seen news that suggests Q1 12.

Yeah, that surprised me. The main attraction of Z68 is that you can have both discrete and integrated graphics, but with no physical connections it looks like that board only has the discrete option. That means Quick Sync is disabled whether you have the Virtu software or not. Maybe their UD4 and/or UD5 have both, but they saved the UD7 for enthusiasts.

My bitch with Intel is the over zealous Chipset stream like the Panther Point, I mean come on a new one every 2-3 months is nuts.

Looks like there might another port there (assuming you're talking about just to the left of the first USB/LAN combo), but I have no idea what it might be. The box calls it out as another USB/eSATA combo. All I can say is that those are really bad angle shots of it.

Maybe there won't be a "shared bandwidth" issue. One can only hope...

The red look like standard USB 2.0/1.1 ports.

Should have compared the I/O to the P67A-UD7 -- they are identical.

On those two sections, the yellow are FireWire (full size and mini), the red are USB 2.0/1.1 spec, and the blue are eSATA3/USB (2.0/1.1) combo ports. I didn't know you could even have ports that would work for both. Learn something new every day...

where is the VGA PORT IN Z68 mannnnnnnnnnn.


intel claims that they are providing VGA port in z68.......................

are you sure given is the correct image for z68.???????????

The GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 is the only Z68 MOBO that I've seen without the video outputs. Yeah, that is the correct image for the Gigabyte MOBO; the UD7 and UD9 are typical designations for Gigabyte's high-end MOBOs. It's odd that's why we were discussing it.
