Zotac GTX 970 idle temp

i have a zotac 970 4GB and it idles at about 48c and has an idle fan speed of 31%. the temp at max load is around 80c is this normal??

Perhaps, sometimes it just takes a while for the heat mass of the graphics card to cool off, maybe it's just that the game you were playing didn't totally get wiped from memory, sometimes the cutscene renderers get left behind and do this, either way things seem fairly normal.
The GPU load temperature may suggest the case could do with some extra front intake fans, though, 80C is where Nvidias' Boost algorithm aims, try running your game/s with GPU-Z running in the background and logging to a file, if you see any drops in clockspeeds at that kind of temperature it shows Boost is holding the card back a bit to keep to that 80C target temperature.

Hey man

Question does your GPU downclock on 144HZ on your desktop? you can check it on GPU Z or MSI Afterburner. Am just curious because i have a 144HZ monitor as well it seems like it stays on High Clocks while Idle.

 


I was able to solve the issue by setting my Nvidia power settings to adaptive instead of high performance. So yes it does down clock on the 144hz monitor. Hope this helps :)

Hi Zoltar151, i've made an account to say thank you, you'r solution is much easier and works great.

Guys, no need to reinstall any drivers just set Nvidia power setting to "adaptive", as Zoltar sayed.
