Can you boot to bios? If so check to see if the hdd is there and recognised. Also see if you can connect your laptop to you TV just to rule out an issue with the display.

No issues with that build at all, only thing I'd consider is bumping up the ram to 16gb mainly to aid you cad and engineering software function faster.

how many sticks of ram are you running? Have you tried one stick then seeing if it boots normal, also when you say black screen is the monitor on with a black screen or is there not even a signal getting through?
