Just double checked that the cd works by booting off another hdd with the same os and even the same build number. Works fine on the second, but not my primary. I have no idea why its not supporting the os on my primary.

Static and breaking pins are your biggest concerns. As long as you touch the case (like everyone's already suggested) and don't work while on carpet, you just have to make sure you don't jam plugs into sockets like a battering ram and you'll be right.

Sounds like some connectors might have come loose and arent sending temp data properly. Try unplugging your gpu and checking all your wires and plugs are attached and clean. While you're at it, make sure your other gear is fine too.

As long as it's not turned on, it's probably not a bad idea to keep dust out. You'd only need to cover the fan vents and maybe the buttons, though. Just make sure you uncover the vents when it's in use.

I had a problem like this a while back. Does this happen for multiple games with 3D rendering? If so, uninstall your current graphics driver and install the one that game with your video card.
