I recently bought a new monitor for a new system. I attached it to the old system to look for dead pixels. When I hooked the old system back up, I goes to the bios page and boots to a strange line of very odd symbols with smiley faces and trees. What is this?

Got a new monitor and hooked it up to my old windows 7 build. Had to use a hdmi cord was using dvi. Wanted to check for dead pixels ect. I hooked to computer back to my old monitor and now it goes to the bios screen and tries to boot but I get a row of strange symbols and that's it.
