How to count the power phases?

i'm not sure how to count them but in 3+1 it means that the cpu has 3 power phases and the memory has 1

I need Help! My BIO's is not working correctly!

ok, first, the front panel audio is not the same as a post speaker. the post speaker plugs into a different area on the motherboard and can let you know of problems with how many beeps it makes. something you could have tried would be to take out all your ram and put in one stick, try it, if it...

MSI A88X-G43 issue with 2133 mhz Ram

I'll re-run some tests but at the same exact settings in game, with the ram clocked at 1866 mhz, the games run flawlessly (although at lower framerates obviously) so it isn't the settings. What makes me think that it is the motherboard is the north bridge clock speed, which by my understanding...

MSI A88X-G43 issue with 2133 mhz Ram

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/A88XG43.html#/?div=Detail states that it supports 2133mhz ram and doesn't mention requiring an overclock. link to ram: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231653 and it is set for 1.6v in bios and what I mean is, getting my system stable...

MSI A88X-G43 issue with 2133 mhz Ram

Hey guys building a system for the wife and I'm running into some weird issues here. First, system specs CPU: AMD A10 7850k (stock clocks) Ram: GSkill Ares 2133 mhz ram (2x4GB) Mobo: MSI A88X-G43 MSI's website claims support for 2133 mhz natively, and the A10 supports it native as well. I have...

    Building a gaming PC

honestly if you want the i7 performance for doing the animations and stuff, get the xeon e3 1230 v3 with an h87 motherboard. the xeon will cost about as much as an i5 4670k and perform about as well as a non overclocked i7 4770. also this thread was set up as a discussion not a question so...

    Building a gaming PC

no, an amd gpu will work just fine with an intel cpu. also, if you aren't planning on overclocking you should consider the xeon e3 1230 v3 and an h87 motherboard. this will save you a good chunk of money that you can use to get a much better graphics card. the xeon e3 1230 is basically an i7...

    Building a gaming PC

if you're using this for gaming, as zach said you'll want a better graphics card (say a gtx 760 or better) and a sound card isn't really required. an i7 isn't worth the extra cost over an i5 for gaming either. you could drop to an i5 4670k and drop the sound card and get yourself a gtx 770.

    which is better intel cpu

it all comes down to the price difference in your area. obviously the g3420 is slightly better, but if you're paying 20-30 dollars more for it, it isn't worth it. It would be better to get an i3 at that price.

Upgrading CPU, do i need a new power supply?

you'll be fine. just upgrade when you get a gpu since you'll have no choice then.

How does intel's turbo boost technology work?

the way turbo works is that it will give you a boost of speed if temps and power targets allow. you'll see a bigger boost if 1 or 2 cores are being used and less if more are used. it won't go higher than 3.7 on 4 cores, 3.8 on 3 and 3.9 on 2 or less. i might be slightly off on those numbers but...

Choice of Processor for HTPC, Home Theater PC

honestly, overclocking in an htpc is very hard to pull off due to heat, it is hard to get effective cooling in there. that said, undervolting and underclocking would help a lot for heat generation. the cpu you should get all comes down to what you want to do with the pc. If you are just looking...
