I believe HDMI is good for 1080p but there are better options for higher res and refresh rates. Is the dual link DVI better or displayport?

I have a gtx 1070. I am deciding between a 1440p 60hz monitor or a 1080p 144hz monitor. Which do you guys prefer and why? The reason I ask is because I doubt I can accomplish 144 hz at 1440p with a 1070.

My friend is giving me his ECC ram but I was planning on buying this motherboard: MSI B250M PRO-VDH LGA 1151 mATX. Would this motherboard work with ECC ram? I'm aware I can't use the "ECC features", but would it still work as regular ram in this motherboard at least? Thanks!
