UPDATE: plugged my girlfriends PSU in and were all good, not really sure how the power supply fried, but it’s definitely better then the graphics card dying!

Since you will have to upgrade the ram and cpu as well I would wait until ddr5 launches, unless you desperately need an upgrade.

Sounds like it’s more then likely a psu issue, but without more extensive testing (trying another psu in the system) its impossible to be sure. A bad dimm slot is also possible albeit very unlikely.
