[SOLVED] Sound Card Help

Hey, to keep it short. My on board realtek sound card has died. I'm not upgrading until the 2020 intel launch in a few months so i need a sound card to get me through the next few months.

Problem is im a noob with audio and am not really sure about a few things

1. pcie sound card vs usb/dac? is there any difference in latency and/or quality? pc is mostly used for competitive video games so latency would be an issue.

2. is there any benefits of getting one over the other? cost is not a factor, i want the best

I recently had the same thing happen.

For just plugging in headphones or a speaker, a simple USB one will work as you don't need anything special.

This one is fine. It sounds about the same as the onboard one. No noticeable latency increases.
