Don't know if you solved your problem or not, but another thing to check is the power supply of the monitor. I had sim issues and found two blown caps. Replaced them and all was good.

Another possibility is the monitor's power supply. My monitor's power light would blink as if asleep, and worked perfectly when it did awaken. Two bad caps replaced and the problem went away.

Disabling sleep is a workaround, but your issue may return. Eventually, my monitor would not wake after a reboot. Turned out to be bad caps in the power supply. FWIW, mine is a sammy too. Have/had same issue in a second monitor and a TV. Cheap caps.

I had a similar problem that got worse over time. Something to rule out is the monitor's power supply. I discovered two blown caps. Replaced them and problem went away. No idea why sleep was the only problem. Otherwise monitor functioned perfectly.

I agree with photonboy. If your monitor doesn't work on another computer in sleep, or another monitor on your computer does, you should suspect your monitor. My monitor had similar issues and turned out to be monitor power supply. Replaced blown caps and all was good.
