Haven't changed anything to do with the fans at all other than just setting the "cpu fan speed" to ignore so that it doesnt give me the cpu fan error on boot and not allowing me to go into desktop.

You have to push the main cable that goes into the headset all the way in. I thought mine was all the way in because it was past the grey section but there's an extra click after that. Just make sure you hear the final click and don't be afraid to use a little force.
