if you are just getting an openvpn config file, then there is nothing they can do on your pc. just use a known safe client, like openvpn connect, and use it. just remember to not put detail in on sites that dont have the padlock

see if you are running out of ram on the pi, if you arent then its probably your cpu limiting you. minecraft is largely single threaded, so i am not surprised the rpi is struggling with a few players. consider switching to paper or tacospigot or another fork that could help with performance

just go on pc part picker, storage, select ssd and sort by price per gb. take the first one of the size you want, and optionally take a well known brand like sandisk or samsung.

the 5700xt is great, a welcome upgrade over my hd 6750. iirc the 2070s does outperform, and nvidia does have a lot of nice-to-have features. i would reccomended the 2070s if its within budget. also, that mobo is a solid choice

opening a drive is not that bad. unless he took a knife to the platters, its still fine. also, lets be real, if he had a backup, he would have already used it.

every time i have installed windows, i have had multiple drives, and not once do i even get an option to move the boot drive. i just pick a disk and it formats the disk in its standard way.
