How long does it usually take for new mobos to drop in price

Buy your board, cpu, and ram together so you can test them. You only have 7 days to return cpus to newegg, and most other items are 30 days. Motherboards for the newer 1150 cpus won't go on sale until the cpu is almost at it's end of life, or newegg offers it as a shellshocker special with or...

    What are 'sockets' in motherboards?

Socket 2011 is for six core Intel cpus; still fast, but newer socket 1150 Haswell cpus just came out. Here's a good combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157384 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116896...

Is the power supply Cheap or too much?

Put your old power supply back in if it's a better brand. You don't need much juice until you upgrade the video card. Orion isn't a quality brand of ps. I recommend antec or corsair.

Bios not recognizing my sata HD (many drives and motherboards later still no luck)

No to the cpu causing your issue with the sata devices. It's a bios setting or loose cable. Check your boot order in your hp board bios. Press the "del" key before you see a post screen. You should set the boot order at cd (or dvd), ide 0. You may also reset the bios by removing the round...

    upgrade dell xps 1710 motherboard

You'll need a new case; your old case and board is btx format, which isn't made for i5 or i7 cpus; I recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139018 $50 after rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130706 $110 socket 1150 for new...

    Amd Processor model unkown..

You may need to flash the bios for the board to recognize the cpu model number. But if it works, it may not be worth the risk. Sometimes you get a bad flash and a dead motherboard.

    What should i choose H61 S2P or H77 or Z77

Here's a couple of good choices for a budget: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121508 (for atx cases; use micro atx for oem cases by hp, dell, etc) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157303

    Which motherboard is better?

Wait for more testing. Remember the early 1155 fiasco where the sata ports weren't working properly, and a lot of boards were recalled? It wouldn't matter as much if you were getting a low end board, but those boards aren't cheap.

    CPU Power Failure?

It's hard to test for a fried cpu. I would just replace it if you can find any, but wouldn't spend more than $5 for it.

Need the right motherboard iam new

Yes. But I don't recommend certain low end power supplies. They can fail anytime. Is yours thermaltake or coolermaster? Those brands are also popular, and a little cheaper than the brands I recommended.

    CPU Power Failure?

The board or power supply is toast. Only other option is to avoid the ram slot you fried; use one of the other ones with just one stick to see if it will post.
