if you internet is bad, a decent powerline adapter will get 90% of your connection, just make sure to use cat 5e. i think powerline would be worth it if you dont want to trip over cables. for wired you would get a little better performance, but at what cost, that is question.

Do you use wireless? If so try using wired and see if problem persists, if it does write back here with what you found out.
