Monitor Choice - Too strong ?

You might not get the full benefit of that monitor as your card won't be able to push 144 fps in every game, but there is no risk of any actual damage to your computer or monitor. It'll be fine. Enjoy the new PC!

My monitor is going nuts, I think there's something wrong with my GPU, help please I have no idea what to do

How is the monitor connected? VGA, HDMI, etc. If possible, try a different type of connection, or at the very least a different cord. If that doesn't fix it, try and change from having the monitor plugged in to the Nvidia card to having it plugged in to the motherboard directly (intel integrated).

EVGA Shows Z170 Stinger, FTW, Classified Motherboards At Computex

It's been that way for a long time. Haswell is x16 for one card, or 8x8 for 2. As was ivy bridge. sandy bridge was the same, but I think it was only PCI-E 2.0.

    GTX 970 on 1366x768 monitor

It's not going to hurt anything, it's just more than you need for your current resolution. But if you are upgrading later, then it should be fine in the mean time. Just overkill. I really don't know that the upgrade to a 980 is worth it from a 970, but that's a different topic.

New CPU Specifications: Need 64 GB RAM

I don't know that you will find anything less than x79 or x99 that will let you go above 32GB. 8GB per stick is the max for ddr3, giving you 32GB max on most systems (4 memory slots) and 64GB max on x79 (8 memory slots). x99/DDR4 gives you access to 16GB sticks of memory, but they are extremely...

What games can I run with this rig?

You should be able to run pretty much everything at max details and 2-4x AA with no problems and FPS in the 45-60 range at least for newer and more demanding titles.

    fx 8350 heating

I would consider getting a 120mm water cooler for the back, or preferably a dual 120 for the top if it supports it. The temps with a single 120mm cooler won't be that much better than with something like the 212 evo, but it will get that hot air straight out of the case instead of blowing it...

which sound card suits my system

I probably wouldn't even buy one so long as your computer has a digital audio out port of some kind that you can hook your speakers in to. Digital audio is digital audio. It doesn't matter if it's coming off the motherboard or a $500 sound card.

First time building a computer $500-700

If you live near a microcenter, you can get an fx6300 and a decent board for about the same price as the processor and motherboard listed above, and that would give you much better performance, particularly in editing.

CPU fan just twitches while playing game

I would guess your fan has died and is no longer functioning. When you play a game/do something intensive, it throttles. When you stop, it cools off some. Replace the fan/cooler and your problems should go away.

i have a geforce 9100 card do i need a better card to run diablo

It's your graphics card. That card was never really meant for gaming and it's just not adequate for gaming.

what is the differnce between these PSUs....?

The corsair PSU will likely have one, maybe two strong rails to deliver all that power, meaning you don't have to worry about what plugs you use on the PSU. Also, the Corsair PSU comes with a better warranty and will actually output 450w, and do so while being efficient (the 80+ rating). The...

    Win 7 32-bit on Core 2 Q9550

You should be fine, but depending on the application, it might be easier to just run it in a virtual machine either on that machine or another. Then you wouldn't have to limit your RAM, or have a separate computer just for one application.

    Gaming laptop with AMD CPU?

IMO, amd still has a place in the high end desktop market. It's a smaller use case than it used to be for sure, but something like the 8350 or 8320 can still power a pretty powerful gaming or a content creation rig. I get scores right between a 3770k and a 4770k with my 8350 in a lot of the...
