Radeon 7970 - Did it just die of old age?

Often the solder joints go bad so you might try cooking it - https://lifehacker.com/5823227/save-dying-video-cards-with-a-quick-bake-in-the-oven I just revived an HD 6870 that way. Tried it on an old GTX 580 I got cheap on ebay and it revived it for about 10 minutes and then it started...

    Old MacBook Pro recovery problem

I guess you are right, I bit the bullet and ordered a USB installer. I'm used to downloading and making my own USBs for Linux or Windows. Why isn't Apple as easy? Oh well. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

    Old MacBook Pro recovery problem

I have an old (2006) MacBook Pro that won't boot. It gets to the Apple icon with the spinning circle and has a loading bar at the bottom. After a few minutes it turns off. I've reset the SMC and PRAM, ran disk utilities which it passed, and tried the recovery mode. In recovery mode it connects...

    adding a second wireless router

Yes, you can use the other ports just like an ethernet switch. The only port you shouldn't use would be the internet or WAN port, only use the 1 2 3 or 4 ports as above.

    Router Or Switch

Most likely your school network uses dhcp to allocate ip addresses so a switch would be all you need.

Can ungrounded power line damage computer components & networking devices?

If you have metal pipes you can run a wire from the pipes to the ground plug on the adapter. You have to make sure the pipes are actually grounded if you try this. Another way would be to get a piece of steel (rebar) and pound it into the ground. Then run a wire from the steel to your ground...

Parts Compatibility and Appropriate Power Supply

You could save some money for the upgraded graphics card by going with a less expensive motherboard. Asrock has several z77 boards that would work great.

USB RAW - How to format NTFS?

Try HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (is that what you meant by HPUSBDisk?), if that doesn't work you were probably sold a counterfeit USB drive. Fairly common at those weird sites. Try to sent it back and get a refund.

Parts Compatibility and Appropriate Power Supply

I'd go with the I5 and 8gb ram and get a better gpu. You'll get much better game performance that way. As far as downloading goes your ISP connection is the limiter there.

eSATA drive not appearing anywhere, even bios

Check your BIOS to make sure the eSata port is enabled. If that's not the problem I'd check for a bios update.
