The i5-9400, by a long shot. Also, the i7-3610QM is a notebook processor, and the i5-9400 is a desktop processor.

The card just uses a standard PCI slot, which are normally white on regular boards but may be colored on fancier ones. They are normally below the PCIE slots, if those are equipped.

The system might work without a reinstall, but even then you might notice issues if you do not reinstall the OS. That is, if you´re using Windows 10. I am pretty sure Windows 7 and below would need a reinstall to function in the first place.
