I Have several games downloaded on an external drive. They worked perfectly until recently. Suddenly the games still work but will not save. As soon as I exit the game all data from that session is gone. Any Thoughts?

I downloaded Daemon Tools lite, realized it included viruses, deleted the adware and SYstem Restored. Will the potential viruses still remain or am I screwed?
