So i have €400 to do an upgrade to my Current P67 Core i3 system.

Parts i currently have are:

Case: Thermaltake M5
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 800W
Mobo: Asrock P67 Pro3 SE
CPU: Core i3 2100
HDD: Intel SSD 330 180GB, 1x 1TB WD BLack Edition, 2x 500GB WD, 1x Hitachi 750GB, 1x WD 500 Blue.
Optical: LG DVD Writer
VGA: EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX550Ti 1024MB
RAM: 2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz & 1x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz

I was thinking of the following options:

1) Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 Mobo & Intel Core i5 3570K Cpu

2) Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Mobo & AMD Vishera Series 8350 4GHz Cpu.

3) Intel Core i7 3770K & Intel SSD 330 180GB (to use with current one in RAID 0)

These can all be purchase for just under €400 from my country Malta... I would like to buy from my own country so that i can benefit from local warranty :)

Which option should i go for?

Go with the i5 3570k and a Asrock z77 extreme 4, going with the extreme 6 is just not needed. Save your money and get something else down the road.

Go with option 3 you will get best performance for your money. The i7 isn't worth it for your purposes.

You didn't mention why you want to upgrade and what is the purpose of the computer?

If the main function of this PC is gaming, you could save even more money by replacing the video card only. From your current specs that GPU is the bottleneck. Because an i3-2100 isn't a bad CPU for gaming so just by upgrading your video card it should give you a significant boost in gaming.

But if you really want to upgrade the motherboard and CPU, go with option 3. There is no point in getting an i7 it makes no difference for gaming compared to an i5 so it would just be wasting money.

Nope, didn't get that answer.

As MC_K7 said - why do you want to upgrade? If its for gaming you might be better off with a different gfx card? - your base isn't too bad.

Sorry I was offline...

I shall be using this PC for gaming, overclocking & benchmarking, watching 720p & 1080p movies, downloading

I also intend to upgrade my VGA in 6 weeks time.

I have decided to go with the Intel Core i5 3570K & AsRock PRO4 Z77/AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 (which ever is in stock)

What cooler should i go for? I can get a Second Hand Corsair H50 for €35 and a Second Hand Coolermaster 212 EVO for €10. ...or should i go for a brand new cooler?
