They would be close I think. Depends which P4 and which celery though.

If you're considering upgrading from a 1.8 P4 to a 2.4 Celery then it's definitely almost pointless. Better results could quite possibly be attained by overclocking your existing processor, but that's dependant on your motherboard, memory, and which P4 you have.

More than likely, yes, it'll perform better. If the PC can handle it, then it may be worth it. But then again if it can handle it then, as already said, it might be more worth it to try and overclock the 1.8GHz. If my math is correct then 1.8GHz @ 400MHz FSB would be 2.4GHz @ 533MHz FSB.

Most boards supported "533" bus, which has a 133MHz clock...if your P4 is a Northwood (512k cache), you'd be better off setting it as a 2.4B (133MHz bus).
