1 GB + 256 MB SO DIMM DDR2 Dual Channel?

or
512 MB + 512 MB

In the first configuration, I'll have a final 1280 MB, but unequal channels

In the second, only 1024 MB, but 512 per channel

To what should I stick? 8O

Go for 2X512MB, you should get better performance then 1GB + 256MB as the extra memory won't outway the increased channel.

Using the two equal sticks of ram allows for dual channel operation. This increases the performance of your memory more than the extra 356mb would.
