Best wizzkids of the world,

I AM going to buy
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1100 MHz, SocketA
Asus A7V, SocketA, AMD Thunderbird mainboard
CoolerMaster CPU Cooler AMD SocketA tot 1.2Ghz
Asus AGP-V6800 GeForce 256, 32Mb SGRAM Dlx DDR
Dimm 128Mb SDram PC133, 133Mhz

Quantum Fireball LM, 20.5Gb, 7200rpm
Creative SoundBlaster Live Player 1024 bulk

My question to you is.

1: Is it better to buy a less price full 1000 MHz for the Graphic card i chose
cause the 1000 MHz already takes the full 100% of graphic card...
Should i put the money that's over,(if i buy the 1000 mhz) in to an better graphic card?

If you have another suggestion's to say of the system i am gonne buy.. please let me know..

I want to buy something i wont regret.

Thanx people,

Tim Garia

I would personally go for the processor. As for your RAM, it depends on what you're using your computer for, but if it was me, I would get more.

If you're just using Windows 98 or ME, 256mb is overkill unless you're running Photoshop or AutoCAD. Windows 2000 would work very nicely with 256mb of RAM though.

personally i would go fo the 1ghz cpu and a geforce 2 gts 32 megs maybe the 64 megs, the processor wouldnt give a large increase in graphical capabilities of the computer while the graphics card would, i would also seriously advise getting 256 ram, in 2000 and in linux it would give a noticible improvement as it would in advanced games and in graphical apps, in win 98 or ME the ram would be very helpful when i upgraded from 128 to 320 windows now boots up in around 20-25 seconds, very helpful compared to around a minute-a minute and a half with 128, helpful with 98/ME crashing every half hour under strain, maybe getting a soundblaster live value would be worth it and if you have extra funds do go for a 17" flatscreen, the mobo and hdd seem fine, decent pc, what dvd/cr-rw drive are you going to have, which case?

Thanx. I know about the 128 sdram but i wil upgrade to 256 next month. Just like the re-writter, DVD wil have to wait for a while. But i am searching for a good video card..
Geaforce 2 with ddr.. I have about 366 dollar left to spend on a good video card.. I have already asked this on the graphicard forum.. But no one comes with a brand. They only tell me to buy a geforce 2.. I want to know wich one of the 1000.. ASUS 7700 32mb with ddr?

a 3d prophet 2 is a really good card, i know by experence as is the asus, if i had to make the choice again i would go for the 3d prophet 2 main reason, its clocked a bit higher than the others for the same price and the fact that its a really cool blue colour :)

I am under the impression that Asus makes the best stuff. I currently own an asus v6600 deluxe, its only an original geforce not even DDR, but in Half life @ 1024x768 I get 99.99 FPS, which is the max that the half life engine will go. Just the fact that its running in AGP 4x helps a ton, so I'm assuming if you get the v7700 pure 64 you will have unbelievable results, especially if you overclock it. If you have $366 to spend look into the new v7700 deluxe 64 meg card, its got all the specials the other deluxe versions have, but it has 64 megs so you don't have to be afraid to turn on FSAA in your games, not to mention the awesome features like s-video out @ 800x600 and video capture, oh yea and 3d glasses that are pretty spiffy too.
If you don't want all those deluxe features I'd get the Leadtek geforce 2 gts pro, which has 64 megs of 5ns memory on it. Its only slightly slower than a geforce 2 ultra, but because of the 5ns memory you can overclock to the speed of a geforce 2 for roughly $150 to $200 cheaper.
www.mwave.com is the only site I've seen that has the 5ns leadtek card, but they also have the v7700 deluxe 64 meg at a decent price too. I would still check price watch, cause prices are ALWAYs changing. if you have $366 though you might want to hold off another month cause the geforce 2 ultras are already dropping in price. I wouldn't doubt a $100 to $150 price drop in the next month to two monthes.

My 200000000000000 cents
:)

I agree with killall. The phophet II gts 64 megs is a kick ass card. I play deer hunter 4 in 1200 x 1600 32 bit color. It runs and looks awsome. I also play unreal tournament at max rez and 32 bit color and no slow down!

well deer hunter is a simple direct 3d game. I play Unreal tournament in 1600x1200 with an original geforce without slowdown, and my geforce isn't even ddr. Goes to show how awesome the geforce chips are.

LeadTek Geforce 2 GTS DDR for 179$ at www.sg3d.com
TOM had a very good review and opinion of this card.

The chrome orb is a lousy option according to the recent review on Tomshardware.

Go to coolerguys.com and buy an FOP32-1 (AMD certified, second best contender in Tom's review) plus some Artic silver compound.

For the RAM you would be better with CL2 than CL3
