Giving them 3 points for first, 2 for second and 1 for third, the X850XT and X1800GTO tie for first with 16 points and the 7600GT brings up the rear with 11 points. So again, "7600gt > x1800gto > X850 isn't the case
Understand?"
No, you move up the ladder for what you get with more money. It's just that simple.
i agree with x1800>x850xt........but 7600gt no way man..the topic was billion times discussed and there is no way....... x1800xt is better ...x1800gto should be but the practice shows wrong.....7600gt is out of question..it`s a good card but when it cames to newer games it`s 128 bit interface and 12 pixel pipes shows allot
here is the proof

good luck my friend
i hope when im 33 i have a real life...
The 7600gt is more powerful than the x1800gto, I can prove that if you like. Also, it is more powerful than a 6800gt which is more powerful than an X850. The x1800xt blows them all away though, since it's more expensive.
You know, I used to feel X850XT>6800U also. I have both a X800XTpe and 6800U OC, and always felt the ATI was better at the games that matter to me.
But now I think they are pretty equal. Recent reviews have the 6800U often pulling strong. Anyway, The 6800U OC (425/1100) does well in Digit-lifes charts I linked to above, and easily beats out the 7600GT. In those charts it competes well with the X850XT, although the 6800GT is clearly bringing up the rear.

The only bad thing about the X850XT is that it doesn't support HDR. To some HDR matters to others it doesn't as long as the card gives good grahpics and good performance.
Whatever card you end up going with just make sure it will last you at least two years, you want to get your money's worth. Considering that you game at 1024x768 resolution, that really shouldn't be a problem. Getting a X1800XT or 7900GT is an overkill for that resolution, but they can probably last up to 4 years and still provide decent/good performance at that resolution. By then DirectX 11 will likely be a hot topic.
