1080p on 1440p

I am planning to watch tv shows and movies on 32'' monitor but it is 1440p so will 1080 content look bad on it.
I can download 4K movies and tv shows but will there be any noticeable difference?

You have 2 solutions here.

Solution 1
Stretch your 1080p content to fit on a 1440p screen.
Some parts of the image may look slightly blurry due to being stretched about 46% larger than normal, but this can be addressed with sharpness filters with VLC or MPC.

Solution 2
Don't stretch the image and use black bars on the sides of video to show an actual 1080p image.
Best quality but smaller image.


Personally I would play around with Solution 1 and mess with the filters with Media Player Classic (MPC) until the image is nice enough.
