I am just about to buy a new monitor to pair with my rx5700xt. I want to push this card over 100 fps for a more solid 144hz gaming expirience but I realised that this card cannot go more than 80 - 90 fps at 1440 and I am thinking that I will stick to 1080p. I was looking at these two monitors LG 27GL650F-B and LG 27gl850. Which monitor will look better at 1080? The 650 with the native resolution or should I go for the 850? I know for sure that I want an ips panel...

Go for 1440p, you will notice the difference, and it always depend of the games.

I have a rx5700xt and my games at max setting:
  • COD modern warfare 95-105fps
  • Shadow of tomb raider 80-90fps
  • Forza horizon 4 110-120fps
  • Nba 2k20...
"this card cannot go more than 80 - 90 fps at 1440"

apart from some very demanding single player games where every card struggles to get over 100 fps it seems to be quite capable

also that's with all max settings, you can easily tinker with some minor settings that I promise you won't make a visual difference but easily gain you some fps.
especially competetive games where you really profit from the 144Hz panel will easily run >100 fps

I wouldn't buy a 1080p 27" screen. the lower pixel density is imho way worse than running at only 85fps.
if you decide on 1080p go with a 24" screen
but 1080p is slowly being phased out

I don't know if i want HDR or not. The only thing that i want is for sure an ips panel. I am used to the color scheme of IPS and when i see a TN panel it seems like it is washed out to my eyes. i guess HDR is a plus but not a must. I am just worried for future titles. If i turn down resolution to 1080p will the look like a 1080p monitor or it will blur out?

When you play 1440p you can't go back to 1080p
