1080p video with PCI GeForce 6200?

I just purchased an Intel 410PT mini-ITX motherboard for the purposes of building a simple Media PC for Dad for Father's Day, with the goal of watching HD video (both streamed and via BluRay drive), hooked up to his HDTV.

The board only supports VGA output with reportedly poor HD performance, so I also purchased a PCI (not PCIx) based GeForce 6200 video card with DVI port (I'll be using a DVI-to-HDMI cable). I could not find a faster PCI based video card, and the MoBo does not have any PCIx slots.

Question: Is a PCI-based GeForce 6200 fast enough to do 1080p? Might the onboard video faster? (I'm willing to consider mounting a fan to the 6200 and overclocking it.)

Please reply asap.

The 6200 does support 1080p resolution. The problem you may run into is that the 6200 came out before Nvidia added HDCP to their cards. What does that mean? No blu-ray unless you install something to circumvent HDCP.

Even if you get around HDCP, the Atom CPU on that motherboard is not fast enough to decode h.264 or VC-1. You need graphics assisted hardware acceleration... which the 6200 does not support.

You need a more modern video card I'm afraid, if you want to play blu-ray at 1080p that is. PCI cards are available on newegg.

Thanks. I returned the 6200 (unopened) that I bought locally and purchased an 8400gs on eBay for $3 LESS (hoping it arrives in time for Father's Day). The info I've read on the 8400gs all say it should do 1080p just fine (needing only a 1.2GHz cpu. The Atom on my board is 1.66GHz.)
