[SOLVED] 10900k vs 5900x Lifespan

Will the 5900x last longer before it dies out versus a 10900k because it is more power efficient? Neither being over-clocked.

Impossible to answer. From my experience the cpu is one of the least likely components to die and will be completely obsolete before it dies. Of course there will be exceptions but I think I have had every other pc component die at one time but never a cpu.

Agreed. The vast majority of computer components outlive their usefulness. For example, my Intel Core I5-760 is still going strong in my mother's computer.

Any answers would be mere speculation...; both should function for 10 years, IMO....

I still have a 486 DX2 66MHz that is still working. DX4 100MHz. Pentium 3 and a Phenom X4 955 black. All working ok still.

But it's clear which one you buy tho. The 5900X

16 MHz Motorola 68030 in my Macintosh Classic II is almost 30 years old now, and it functions as it should
