1200 4gig, 800 8gig?

Which would be BEST for gaming and games comming out over the next year or 2. 4 gigs of DDR2-1200, or 8 gig of DDR2-800? THANKS!!
 
I don't think there would be a noticeable difference; while you likely won't need more than 4GBs of RAM in the next two years, any current Intel platform is not going to take advantage of the extra bandwidth of DDR2-1600. Post your specs and maybe it'll be easier to determine what to spend that extra cash on.
 
Right now, 4gig is enough. Although 8gig ram may be needed to run heavy applications or games in the future. Which means right now, it doesn't matter. The performance impact of 1200 vs 800 mhz ram on your system in realistic conditions is not that noticable though.
 
There is no game to consume more than 4 Gbyte today or in the immediate future. You wont notice siginificant impact bet 1200 & 800 DDR2. High performance DDR-800 will have better price/performance value.
