if you are gamer than for that resolution 5850 will be more futureproof if is it in your price range.

in addition i would go with the spinpoint f3 instead of the WD CB look at the benchmarks. and the price is cheaper.

thanks for your responses guys i appreciate it. most of that stuff is 100$ more than the original item with the exception of the case which is only 20$ or so more, and the GPU which is like 200$ more. my budget was somewhere under/around $1450 total. I swapped out my HD because your recommended one does look better. The other stuff seems a bit too expensive...

First off you have to change your RAM, you cannot use dual channel ram with that motherboard, or any motherboard for the i7 (building an i5-750 computer is much cheaper btw) here is the cheapest triple channel ram i can find you 129$ after rebate

the Core i7 Processors come with preapplied thermal paste but it is really bad, so i would say you still need the thermal paste.

Really nice parts I think they are a little better/similar to the ones I posted. However, you forgot a PSU . That would make it over 1650 I totaled. I want the 5850 BAD but its roughly double the price of a 5770 and I would say not double the performance. Maybe I'm wrong? Thank you for looking up that stuff I really appreciate it man.

~$1509 after rebates and SH is applied its a bit more than you wanted to spend but you get the 5850 if you want it. otherwise you can save some money and just get the 5770, i have the 5850 and personally i love it, in any case there is one thing that price is based on. Cool! is visiontek a good company? I am skeptical about buying brands that aren't as popular but open to the idea. Also, that motherboard doesn't have a GREAT customer satisfaction rating. I like the fact that it has USB 3.0. I don't think I will ever spend the money to have two GPUs I like the idea of just one GOOD one so the necessity of 3 PCIe slots is not paramount. What do you think about another mb with USB 3.0? Also, is that the same monitor I posted just from a different website? Thanks man!

Visiontek is a good company, they offer a LIFETIME warrantee on their products (you have to register your card with them within 30 days or so in order to get it though), their tech support is also great. and they are cheap. i've also searched around the internet for just how good they are, and if you do a search for is visiontek a good company in google, you see very few to no cards have gone bad, and when they do only reports of their good customer service.

you said you wanted an i7 but this ^^^^ is why the i5 is better. you can get more performance out of it for cheaper. the only thing i would say is ditch the mobo, case and HDD from what brennon says, i know of better ones. this setup will be 2-3x better than the i7 one.
