144hz GPU for 144hz monitor?

Hi will my sapphire hd 7850 2GB OC GPU run a 144hz monitor?

yes hz doesnt matter on the monitor itl run it fine

yes it will, no problem, but if it's for gaming, the 144 won't matter if the rig won't even push above 60. but 7850 is a good gpu, but it won't reach >100 on ultra settings like say bf4

make sure you use DVI-D!, HDMI/DP cannot support 144hz, with DP/HDMI only support 120Hz, A mistake to hopefully avoid.

That said, your 7850 will handle 144Hz, as long as you use DVI-D to DVI-D cable, no DVI to HDMI.

I use displayport for 144hz fine i tried to lookup on google displayport hz limit and i couldnt find its limit just the 4k resolution is 60hz but 4k is 4x the resolution of 1080p so i would think it can go more than 144hz ?

that guy is wrong, HDMI and Display port can run up to 120Hz, not 60 and 144.

Small correction, Only SOME HDMI cables can support 120Hz.

Hang on, What Display Port are you talking about, there are two Different types, One is like a HDMI on a slant, other is like a squashed HDMI? Which one?

i use the same one as his video card i think its slanted one

His video card wont support the new hdmi standart so his choice is displayport( full sized one)or dvid

yep, I opt going for DVI-D, as the cables tend to be cheaper then display port, they are more common, so more largely produced.

they do come under same name with graphics cards, even though it is the (m).

I really doubt that, all the cards that I have happened , do, differentiate between display port , display port 1.2 and mini display ports very very clearly.

AMD stated their R9 295X2 with four mDP's with just Display Port, I don't doubt that.

The G-sync monitors are all 144hz, and they only work on Displayport. Dual Link DVI-D used to only say a max of 120hz, but it also has been used to get 144hz. HDMI is the only one which doesn't. It can't go past 60hz for most GPU/Monitors. Though there is a new HDMI 2.0 spec, it is very new, and nothing supports it yet, for the most part.
