Hi Guys,
I have a HP dm4 1006TU notebook and it runs on i5 430M on HP 146A motherboard. After a lot of googling, I found that my mobo only supports upto 1333 MHz PC-10600 RAM. In BIOS, there is no option to downclock the RAM.
Now, I have bought a 1600 MHz RAM. It gets detected in the bios info but when I load my OS (both ubuntu and Win7), it fails. It just doesn't goto login page and keeps rebooting infinitely. I checked the same RAM in a different newer laptop and it works fine.

Now. my question is that do I need to buy a 1333 MHz RAM for my laptop ?

Isn't there some kind of automatic down clocking if RAM is rated higher ? That's is why I went ahead to buy the 1600 MHz one.
