Hi, currently i am using a ViewSonic E771 (17") monitor. It's pretty good, except it's not flat.
I want to upgrade since this monitor does not cope with Graphic Design. So I have been looking for some 19" displays.
The thing is, I saw a ViewSonic G90f and the geometry is really crappy. I haven't been able to see the Samsung 997DF working, but I have heard it's an alright monitor. With some tweaking you could get good color and geometry.
Can anybody help out by telling me about the samsung or if the ViewSonic P95f+ is really that much better than the G90f in terms of geometry. What other brands would you suggest. Don't want Aperture Grill displays though. Thanx a lot for you attention. 😀 😉

I had a P95f and it had lots of distortion I could not resolve. I was using a FireGL graphics card. I RMA it and they sent a PF790 and it is a nice monitor, but without the USB hub.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign</pre><p></font color=red>

the p95f is an aperture grille monitor. That only leaves you with the samsung 997 and the G90f. I had the samsung and it's horrible...the G90f isn't the best but it's beter than the 997. Graphics look good,(games look fantasic) but the downfall is text, it doesn't do it all that good. You get used to it after awhile though...It's also bright with an almost perfectly flat screen...the 997 has a pretty big curve to it...it curves towards to corners so the curve is not even...pretty nasty. Whew and the side buttons on the samsung look cool but...man oh man are they a pain in the ass to use. The G90F is the best shadow mask out now.

If you're using it for graphic design you'd wanna go with an aperture grille though...i'd assume you don't want one because of the 2 little lines right? Well they're really only visible on white screens.

Thanks for your reply Reck, well the actual reason why I do not want an aperture grille display is because they don't last as much as the shadow masking ones. I've heard from many people that use AG Displays, that they wear off pretty quickly (last fewer years). I don't plan to upgrade in a long while after this new monitor. Damn technology 😛. Anyway I am a ViewSonic fan and am dissapointed with the G90f. What else is out there?

Visually, I prefer the Samsung tubes. They're .20mm dot pitch and have really good clearity.
