1T more stable than 2T?

Asus M4A87TD/USB 3 AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE Patriot 1600 4Gx2 have been having intermittent stability issues after original build. Now, after resetting everything in bios to AUTO, it changed from 2T to 1T, and seems good. does this make any sense? I don't think any other timings, etc. changed.

1T is normally used for a pair of ram sticks; 2T is for four sticks. Sometimes with four sticks the ram speed is slightly reduced, but stability is far more important.

Thanks for the info. Been building our home systems for awhile, but never OC'ed and never really had to mess with BIOS (other than for boot priority, etc.).
