2 Failed Maxtor HDDs in a row--waiting for serial

Sigh... I've given up on Maxtor. This is the second hard drive I've had fail in a month. It wouldn't be that bad if I didn't loose everything when it happens cause I'm running it in a RAID array.

Anyone else having this problem? I can't believe I could get that bad of luck.

well i sure hope it was just bad luck for you because I just bought 2 maxtors last night and I am using them for RAID. I'll cross my fingers.

I think your failing drives are an isolated case, as they seem to be quite reliable drives so far.
Maxtor better not turn out to be like IBM

maxtor seems to be a reliable brand i'm using 1 right now, havnt had any porblem so far. i dont' use raid thou.

well if you want raid 0 you ahve to live with the possible consequences.

or get two more and go for a raid 0+1.

Well... I wouldn't expect it to fail every 2 weeks, even if I'm running RAID-0... on the plus side my other Maxtor drive has been running for 2 years.

I have an old Maxtor drive that is almost 6 years old and is still running strong Hard drive life = luck of the draw...
