[SOLVED] 2 motherboard comparison

Solution
i was told i shouldnt use it as the power delivery is bad so i wont get full performance from my 2600x. Is this true?
and if it is ture, is the steel legend a good board?

Both the B450 Steel Legend and B450-F are decent enough boards for the price, and shouldn't have any issues with a 2600X.

You have the Steel Legend, right? If so, definitely don't spend the money to 'upgrade' to any other B450 board for a 2600X

The Steel Legend is a fairly 'budget' orientated board, but unless you're running the highest core count Ryzen9 (3950X or 3900/XT) OR pushing really high overclocks, the power delivery should be sufficient.

If you're running any Ryzen 3, 5 or 7, the Steel Legend should be more than capable.

No sorry I'm planning a build.

But look at this, someone told me that the Asus has power delivery problems. Please read through https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1262618-new-build-help/?tab=comments#comment-14158341

I have a 2600 (OC'd to 4 GHz) on an Asus ROG Strix B450-F and it runs very well.
I do have an Arctic 33 eSports Edition cooler on it though so it does OC better than it would have with the stock AMD cooler.
I also tested my 3700x on that MB while I was waiting for my X470-F to arrive and the B450-F handled the 3700x very well.
You will not have an issue running a 2600x on the Asus B450-F.

So what was that person saying there's not enough power delivery on that board so I will run into problems, in the 2600x not having full performance?

Secondly which board would you recommend?

That person is saying nothing of any substance, in the context of a 2600X

If you were talking trying to push high overclocks on a 2700X, you'd want to make sure you have airflow over the VRM.... and I'd recommend not running a Ryzen 9 on either, but for a 2600X, you're fine.

Which one would you guys recommend?

For a 2600X, either. Probably whichever has the cheapest price.

With an eye on future upgrades, a decent B550 board might be a better call. They don't 'officially' support 2000 series CPUs, but they work by all accounts I've seen.

EDIT. @DMAN999 beat me to it.

Both the B450 Steel Legend & B450-F appear to go for ~$120 in the US.
Assuming you're IN the US and don't strictly 'need' mATX, I'd opt for either:
X470 Gaming Plus MAX for ~$113
OR
Spend the bit extra on the X570-P for ~$150

What is your Budget ?
Are you planning on upgrading to a 3800x or 5800x anytime soon ?
For the 2600x the Asus Strix B450-F works well.
But if you will want to upgrade to a 3800x or 5800x in a year or 2 you might want to look at B550 MBs which have much better VRMs and will run those chips without any issue.

I probably will never upgrade unless I must.
But here is a b550-a board that I like https://www.box.co.uk/90MB15J0-M0EA...ypB2s-t2BZnpD-x8s2lnXNqdJXPSfi7RoC4_gQAvD_BwE

Is it worth paying an extra 70 for this board with the 2600x?

From a quick look at tha mobo cpu support there are no 2000 series cpu's listed.

Already mentioned that @Crosslhs82x2 - They should 'work', from what I've seen, but officially they won't appear on supported lists .

Ok, I'll fill in the blanks.... You're in the UK and your budget is up to ~£175 if it makes sense.
Fair summary?

If you're unlikely to upgrade within the lifecycle of AM4 and will stick with a 2600X then no, +£70 makes absolutely no sense.

Even the B450-A from ASUS, their most entry-level B450 board @ £65 would suffice.

I'd recommend stepping up a little bit in quality from there, but there's no need to jump from £65 to £175!
The ASRock B450 Pro4 (or mATX variant) for £71-£76 would be plenty

Or the MSI X470 Gaming Plus MAX @ £90 seems like a pretty good deal. Overkill, but ~£15 overkill vs ~£100 overkill you were leaning towards!

so is the asus b450-f and the steel legend the same,
as in the same 'performance' so there will be no difference
