Question 2014 chevy cruze LT "1.4 LT" FOB issues

whenever any button on the key fob is used the trunk will always pop open 2 seconds later and the trunk button itself does nothing. The fob is quite worn down, the original buttons had fallen out and I needed to jury rigger replacements while I swapped in a new battery. Directly pressing each individual switch on the circuit board resulted in the same issue. What should my next trouble shooting step be?

Replace it for new.

Just like computer mice, the microswitches fail.
If you've hacked in some replacements, it would seem that the replacement did not go perfectly.
