G260 would beat it at high res from that bench, even if they scale the same.

So average scores across the board dont tell what card is faster :pfff:

Then what do you use, one game?

Look, its not as if this has really been done accross the board with alot of sites. Thats why we see so few comparisons except his flunky site. And those numbers are wrong according to the few glimpses we have from other sites, so I think theres something wrong with how they tested, as opposed to the majority that showed different. All this will be moot anyways, as Ive said, in a few weeks we will see the x2 cards reviews, at qwhich time, Im sure we will see all the comparisons we need. At that time, its up to whoever who wants to readdress this thread, and then show numbers

Honestly I expected more from yee, especially you John.

If I had asked guys on overclockers to show me whats faster, they would have had numbers from loads of games up in minutes.

Simple ownage! gtx-260 wouldnt stand a chance.

I lied.

I gave you figures from your chosen site did you not see?

Anandtech review @ 2560 x 1600 AA + AF my friend?

GTX 280 sli scored average of 82.60fps

4870 cf scored average of 71.90

From 7 games.

You contributed nothing, only to debunk me with no facts only 4870x2 which is not out for 3 weeks

Nice. So, on my monitor which can only display 60 fps, I can get a $160 HD 4850 and it will be just as good in Bioshock as the $800 GTX 280 SLI and the $600 HD 4870 CF and the $400 9800GTX SLI?

Hey, here's an idea? DO YOUR OWN DAMN RESEARCH!

There's really no point in someone who already knows how to find his own benchmarks and knows about this stuff to come here into a thread and start posting for HOURS AND HOURS on end trying to prove a point waiting for other people's proof when you can just go out and find it your own self. This thread was never about that to begin with, it was about one person who wanted our opinion on what was better. THAT'S ALL!

Besides, what is 'better' is very subjective. It really depends on what you play and how you play it. There isn't going to be one be-all, end-all card for every single game out there because of the vast differences in people's individual setups and the preference each game shows towards one brand or the other. Really, it all comes down to what you play.

Bioshock seems to show pretty good numbers when you have high-end ATi stuff, so if you really love blowing up stuff in Rapture, then get yourself a 4870x2. Crysis, on the other hand, really favors Nvidia more often than not, so go get yourself a GTX 280 if destroying palm trees and running around in a super suit is your deal.

The bottom line - It all depends on what you want to play. Find the game you like (if you can) and go with the card that does best in it. Found a tie? Then go with the better buy for your buck. Maybe the 4870 has better HD playback. Maybe that one GTX 280 card has an HDMI port you could really use. Maybe there's a sale on one of them. Whatever the case is, just get what you need and until you've got the card up and running fine, you can't really predict for certain what will happen.

I did my research and gave results, all I am hearing is the 4870cf is pure pawnage with no research.

Just becuase you repeat the same statement in the wake of overwhelming odd's that your statement is false does not in any way shape or form mean it's true.

What next are you going to throw in the "it's my opinion that it's so so % faster so it is"...

A single HD4850 will be equal to a 9800gtx sli from the graph. Now if you spend a meisely 250$ you can have higher than gtx-280 sli performance in bioshock!

Result's should be expected to vary though!

Bwahahahaha

Averages mean nothing when your playing a game man! What are you going to do record all the fps during your gameplay then average it out after you shut the game off and base that on how well the game played?

lol

Im done here ive proved my point have a nice day.

How is 4870cf simple pownage over gtx 260 sli then?

Because it just is?

You have proved nothing and it should have been " how well the game ran " not played.

Averages won't be a good measurement though. Let's assume the following (note: all games are at their best settings in both scenarios).

Card #1
Game 1 - 75
Game 2 - 80
Game 3 - 20
Game 4 - 15
Game 5 - 45
Game 6 - 30
Average - 44

Card #2
Game 1 - 50
Game 2 - 40
Game 3 - 45
Game 4 - 40
Game 5 - 50
Game 6 - 40
Average - 44

Both have the same average performance, but Card #1 is divided. Card #1 will play beautifully in 1/3 of its games, horribly in another 1/3 and average in the last 1/3. Card #2 is mostly average across the board.

So tell me, which would you rather have?
