260 and 4870 are the same price. Help!

I have proved across the board that gtx 280 sli is faster than 4870 cf and gtx 260 sli is equal too it.

I have repeadtly asked you to back up your claims form figures over several games ( more than 8 or so ) and you have declined, yet my point is moot.

Go figure.



 


No, you haven't. You've proved that at 2560x1600, GTX 280 SLI is faster, and you've shown absolutely nothing about GTX 260SLI. We have shown that at 1920x1200, a much more common gaming resolution, the 4870CF is faster, which is more relevant to most people here, as 30" monitors, spectacular as they are, are correspondingly spectacularly expensive.

The GTX280s in SLI are not faster than the 4870s in Crossfire except at 2560x1600. Even then they don't win by much. It's okay to argue your point, and you have every right to disagree, but please refrain from outright lies.

How do you define which card is faster?

You test it at the highest settings possible eg 2560 x 1600 with all effects on AA etc.

Who ever wins at those settings gets the honour.

 


A few flamewar here and there won't kill us anyway. LOL And by the way point are still being discussed. The only problem is that now most of the thread is serving the same meat in a different plate...
 


I asked for gtx 260 sli benches, no one showed me.

They showed me gtx 280 sli vs 4870 cf, I got figures and showed who won.

We are discussing which cards are the quickest, you dont run a 100 metre with the fastest guy having a weight on his back.

You test at the highest settings to see who is faster..1920x 1200 is not it.



 


Unless you try to consider what moniter the people you are suggesting any card has. I got a 1080p tv so I could not care less about 2560 x 1600. I don't remember anyone in this thread asking for advice for a monitor of that resolution.

Guy 1 : My ferarri can go up to 330 km/h

guy 2 : Yeah but you can't go ever 100 km/ on any road anyway.

DISCLAIMER : Those speed are on Canadian road but I'm sure everybody got the idea.
 
No, you don't test at the highest settings to see who is faster. You test at the settings that are the closest to what you will be using. If you aren't using it at the highest resolution, tests at the highest resolution are useless to you.

Sure, a F-350 might beat a corvette in the quarter mile while both are towing a 20,000lb trailer. If you never tow trailers though, which would you choose? You can't just take the highest load scenario and assume it will give you the fastest card overall.
(yes, the analogy is exaggerating the difference, but that's kind of the point).

Like Ive said, your posting is moot, since using 512vran vs 1 gig at 25x16, whod win? So far its close, and soon wont be, and even then, its wrong to compare them. Now, lets talk 4870x2 vs G260 sli. And even then, Id like explanations as to why demanding games which require high textures, everything, that the x2 wins by huge numbers? If you cant explain that, then since youve got 1 place where to make your claims, and everyone else seems to disagree with you, its you who needs to explain this, not us. Its easier to convince 1 person, than to be 1 person to convince all. So go ahead, no ones stopping you. Prove it. What youve shown is inadequate, and isnt apples to apples and doesnt explain why thwe 4870x2 wins at 25x16, and so therefore, its you who has something to prove, not us
 
It wont stop until I see cold hard figures, from many games across all resolutions if you like ( high res will do though )

I am sick of people sprouting crap and masking it off as fact.

They have tested like 6 games, they could be handpicked.

You cant compare and its a single slot card anyway we will compare that to gtx280x2.

We have a valid comparison here " gtx 260 sli vs 4870 cf ", they are the same price, multi gpus, so lets see whos faster.

It ain't the cads favored resolution it's the **** monitor resolution. Who care about those huge **** resolution when not a **** soul own a monitor that can display it???

And I don't care about autobanh. I said those figure were from canada. Can't you just think that I might be from canada? Your whole **** point is moot because no one play at those resolution. The same as benching Crysis was moot some month ago at really high res because the game was unplayable. Who care if I get 18 instead of 12 fps since it's not payable anyway. yeah 50% more performance but still unplayable...

And yeah this thread would deserve to die but then I would have no fun at work today...
