2900 pro?

Anyone see these anywhere else? Hopefully we'll get some benchies, but it probably won't matter to me I got a friend who is going to get me a big discount on a HD 2900.
 
Wow if that thing is released and is not actually a flop we might actually see ATI having gold on their hands for a few months since everyone points that the G92 will be released in Nov.
 
Yeah... but I'm not counting on this site doing a good review on them anytime soon though, might have to check somewhere else for it.
 
why is it mind boggling? just because the £ is worth like 2$'s 😛 I take that to mean any english person is worth 2 americans! AND NO I WON'T LISTEN TO LOGIC GOING THE OTHER WAY :lol:
 
I wouldn't get my hopes up on this being a huge success. They intend to beat all the 8600 GTS cards with this and they'll do that. But unless it's priced REALLY aggressively, it'll just be too close in price to the 8800 GTS 320. Newegg has the PNY 8800 GTS 320 for $279 now.

hmm, only 80nm process, are these failed 2900xt's then.

still, regardless, this should help fill some of the void between the 2600 and 2900 at least in a dx10 sense.

Yeah, I own an 8600GT as my secondary card and it's incredibly weak in both Direct X9 and Direct X10 games. :lol:
 
well it says its based on the "Radeon® HD 2900Pro GPU" so it looks like its not a failed 2900xt. What the...its clocked 160mhz core and 25mhz memory slower then the 2900XT.
Edit: Im guessing it will have a less raster operators and texture mapping units. my guess is tmus 12 and 12 raster operators
 
So whats the difference between the 2900PRO and the 2900XT. The only difference I'm seeing is clock speed, but everything else seems to be the same. Does that mean we could be seeing an 2900XT refresh?
 


The thing about the HIS specs is that it's totally different than everything else being reported. The FireGL V7600 which say it's based on the PRO have a 256bit external memory interface. And looking at the HIS site, they show the external memory bitwidth not the ringbus. So if it's full 512bit then it's much better than originally expected, and if it's 320 stream processors (like we thought after the FireGL launch) then Fuad is talking about a GT or SE type part with 160 SPUs.

Either way speculation and information on that page are running at odds. If I had to guess I'd say the memory bitwidth is a typo and it's 320SPUs but with only 1/2 the bitwidth of the XT. It wouldn't be the first AIB typo this round after their UVD typo blunder.

As always we'll know for sure at launch, but that they're posting anything now is promising that there will be somethig soon. But really I'm a little more amped about the G92 to see what they teweaked and what they didn't. Lots of opton in a mid-life refresh, and the HD2900Pro likely won't change power draw much, if it's anything like the FireGL it should be about 150W +/- 10 or so. The GF8700 though should be substantially lowerm and hopefully perform pretty close to it. Of course, again, only time will tell.
 


Stuff is usually cheaper in the US, even if you compare without VAT, so it would probably be a little less than that.
 



yeah but unfortunately it doesnt quite work like that.

you see prices in the UK are generally around 30-50% more than what you would pay in the US.

So i'd say that card would probably retail in the states at about 240..ish....maybe even cheaper.
 
Well its price is right for my upgrade this christmas, so if its only a little slower than the XT (due to only apparent difference being slower clock speeds) then its sold. Hope its power requirements arn't too crazy.
