Solution

Well it sounds like we two have similar problems or should I say decisions to make/take !!!
And it became crystal clear a couple of days ago when GTA-5 came out,,,, right?!? 😉
Then you probably already have seen the Benchmark test of the game:

It don't make things crystal clear,,, but after CAREFULLY digging all the hardware reviews of the two cards, I have decided to go after the GTX 970.
The GTA game uses a bundle of graphic...

hmm that's what i was thinking as well btw u can run ultra on 3570K?damn can't believe what my i5 's performance will be

These two card trade blows when it comes to performance so on one side you have the 290x with 4GB of memory and a wider bus speed which helps with 2k and 4k resolution. The major trade off with the 290x is that it draws more power which means more heat. The 970 is arguably the best bang for the buck due to its excellent performance for the price and draws less power which means less heat and performs well in 1080p and 2K resolutions. The trade off however is the lower bandwith and segmented memory of 3.5GB + .5GB. Due to this the card will hesitate to use more than 3.5GB of memory and when it does access the remaining .5GB that section of memory is at a much slower speed. It's been reported by some that accessing this section of memory can or will cause stuttering in some games.

If price is the same I say go with the 970, it's faster at 1440p and below (only when you enter 4k does the 290x pull ahead). And it uses less power, so cooler, more quiet, and more overclocking headroom. Choosing between AMD and nvidia shouldn't be a hard decision, just choose what ever performs at the level you want and fits your budget.

hmm the price is same, and my PSU plan is tt smart CE 630 watt and i am planning for a 1080p display so u say msi is better?

The GTA game uses a bundle of graphic memory, so the 8GB version of the 290x could maybe come into play, but I haven't seen it tested with the game...
Hope this will help you. :)
