I just installed a new 40 gig Maxtor in a gateway and
left the old IBM-dpta
20 gig (with win98 and all the files)in for a drive D:.
It shows up in
device manager and computer storage manager in ADMIN
tools. It is not
showing in my computer and the is no drive letter
assigned in disk
management. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Oh and it
shows up in the
BIOS as the slave!

Thanks, Brian

Brian,

Are you sure it is not showing up as "F" or another
letter. I would think that if Bios recognizes it then it
should show up in my computer. Is the jumper set
as "slave"?

Was the drive compressed with Drivespace? XP doesn't
support it.
