30% slower than average physics score on i5 2500

I bought a very dirt cheap i5 2500. It was badly cosmetically damaged so I decided to benchmark it a little bit. It was average in every aspect compared to the same model to my delight but scored quite badly on the physics test compared to the same models.

Is this something that should concern me? I can still get my money back. I am also only running 8gigs of 1333mhz (9-9-9-24), wondering if perhaps the low ram is a factor.

For reference, cpu temps never went above 37 degrees Celsius.

Well the average CPU mark with passmark for an i5 2500 is 6311, so your i5 2500 is preforming above average in the aggregate. So no I don't think a lower than average physics score is any reason to return the CPU, many factors could cause that possibly your memory speed not sure on that. Did you run the test more than once?

Thank you for your answer. I ran multiple tests in every duration possible through the software's preferences option, all tests yielded pretty much the same results. I don't know what each of these tests actually translates to in terms of gaming performance but physics sounded important to me for gaming
