10 cores for a gaming PC? Really? Let's think about this here.

Gaming plus streaming . anyways she is the one who chosen it , I did not recommend it for her. 8 cores is more than enough for streaming. but maybe she wants more lanes from the i9 ... or future proof for heavy streaming.

I wouldn't get anything higher than an 1800X at this point. Anything else is total overkill.

1800x ? sorry i disagree .. 8700K is better ...

Gee...I wonder how people actually did "streaming" plus "gaming" before all these uber expensive CPU's.
I guess that concept never existed.

It's like when people breathe the word "photoshop".
"OMG! You need a top end i7, OC to 4.9, 64GB RAM, a 12GB Titan xP or Quadro FooBar GPU, and a custom loop to keep it cool."

When in reality, they are editing one of two funny cat pics a week, in MS Paint, and the word 'photoshop' was just a generic word for photo editing.

well if you read this thread carefully , I did not recommend anything to her. I just noticed she was making a mistake not getting a water cooler for i9 and reminded her about it .

I personally would not go over 8 cores for a gaming PC with streaming . that is i7 8 core and X299 , or Z370 with 8700K

anything above the two is an overkill.

I would choose X299 only if I wanted more lanes , or 2x 1080 ti in SLI ..

I dont like The Ryzen much ... because without overclocking it is not comparable .

That is not what I was asking originally. I was asking if you really needed these things for a simple gaming rig. I'm done with this thread.

I am not the OP ... and I did not pick the i9 nor recommended it. talk with her why asking me??

From earlier:

That was a general vote , between intel or AMD . and following her wishes . she chosen it. and cutting that from what I said makes it look out of context .

Yeah, even I am confused when the threadripper topic came up. Then just went with the flow about overclocking and cooling in Intel vs AMD.

But if you see my earlier post, I suggested the ryzen 7 with a Vega 64 and a 3440x1440 75hz freesync. Omg how that escalated to this hedt!

Folks I dont understand where you got the "she" from; my avatar is a famous meme, lol

Playerunknown Battlegrounds would be a big one, I already have more than 500h in it.
Various single players like TW3 or F4, and MMOs such as Warframe.
I play a variety of games honestly, sometime I play even pre-00 games.

I'm going to venture that most of the variety of games will be DX11 or older. For that stronger single core may be better. I'd suggest the i7-8700K so far. And as for GPU, DX11 is NVIDIA realm and it wasn't much of a choice anyways in the high-end market.

Except all the i7-8700K is sold out in your country...? Overclock the Ryzen in this case. Or you can wait for stock. I'll also suggest a custom loop since AIOs don't do much if you really want to overclock.

As for the second order of the day, which video editing programs?

Daisy chain thunderbolt products.

Ur gonna laugh but I've been using Shotcut, lol. I intent to find better software when I become more skilled in the field.
Also yeah most but not all, and you also have to consider future games, since dx12 games are already coming out.

I still dont understand why 8700k(or 7820x) over 7900x, or the other way around? its just core speed vs core count or is there something more that I'm missing?

Games don't use all available cores as opposed to video editing or simulation. That's why a 6 core 8700k is more than enough for gaming + streaming.

@samer.forums, that's very clever of you. It's just a manufacturer implementation of the thunderbolt 3. This can be also done with 3.1, it just hasn't been designed yet.

More than enough or better at it? I want more than "more than enough" with the money I'm willing to spend

U would be absolutely fine with a 8700k for gaming and streaming for 4-5 years from now.

No performance information on Shotcut... Hm.

If I remember correctly, the Kaby Lake CPU has a higher IPC. Also, personal vendetta against Intel for the ridiculous keys needed to "unlock full features".

In this case the build I suggested will be sufficient.

no you are mistaken , Thunderbolt from day one (Thunderbolt 1) had daisy chain in its design . and this design is in the chip itself from intel.

USB cant connect more than one device without using a hub . and does not have daisy chaining at all in the USB controller.

not the point here , you challenged me and and I answered you. . you even did not stop and tried harder about USB3.1 can do it but not implemented yet which is also false ...

point taken eh ? you dont even like to say "Thank you" when some one teaches you something new to you huh?

next time dont challenge fast and think you know it all .. When some one correct an info to you , research it before challenging him. at least Thank him for teaching you.

okay ? . have a nice day.

and the one who can pay 3500 euros ($4000) for a PC , will enjoy daisy chaining Thunderbolt devices as he wish. I dont think a $4000 rich PC buyer is a normal user.
