I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading a 2.2GHz Venice 3500+ 939 512KB L2 cache for a 2.4GH San Diego 3700+ 939 1MB L2 cache for an extra $50.
I'm going to be running a:
6800GT, (upgrading to next gen when released)
1G of OCZ PC3200 2-2-2-5
ASUS P8N SLI Deluxe

I'll be overclocking at little now and a lot later. I thought the 1MB L2 cache was worth some the extra along side the San Diego core. Using a Swiftech or Danger Den water cooling kit, how much overclocking do you think I could get out of it? Just curious.

you should be able to get at least 500mhz out of any of the rev.E cores, and with the lower clocked ones even more, up to aroun 2.8ghz with halfway decent cooling and good mem. combine that with the 1mb cache and you're looking pretty good. however, a good oc isnt garaunteed, it depends on how "good" of a cpu you got, your overclocking skill, and the cooling/voltage setup on your mobo. (chipset i mean).

With 3500+ and 3700+ you'll be guranteed 2.6Ghz, with some luck and water you should get to 2.8 but that's not guranteed. 3.0 is very attainable with good chilled water setup or freon cooling.

Lol there is no such thing as optimal frequency for all proc's, they're all different, so far the venice 3500+ i've seen are guranteed 2.6Ghz on DFI Ultra-D with water, And looking at overclocking forums, most people do tend to max out around 2.6ish with the San Diego 3700+ on air.

I'm not sure how much most of you look into water cooling or have a setup of your own, but I wanted to ask about the Swiftech H120 REV 3A. It's a basic Swiftech cooling setup with a 120mm radiator and a built-in pump to the resevoir. I'm not sure how much coolant a system will need but I planned on having a VGA block, maybe two if I eventually went one of the SLI or CF routes and possible some of my own custom modding to the system. The size of the resevoir compaired to their basic systems looks smaller, I was just curious on that thought.

1x120mm radiator for the CPU, and 1x120mm radiator for the 2 video cards. Reservoirs really isn't necessary, i don't have 1, as for pumps, i'd recommend you picking up a Hydor L35 from Wal Mart, and use a Y adaptor to split the water, 1 going to the CPU and 1 going to the 2 video cards.
