Going from a 3700x to a 5600x is it worth it?I also looked up the motherboard I have is compatible with a 5600x I would just have to do a bios update?

Solution
I have a 3800x and a 2070 Super and play at 1440p. I had this same question when the 5000 series was released.

If you look at cpu comparisons for gaming at 1440p you will see the FPS gain would be quite small when going to the 5800x.

I see no need to pay the high prices that are due to the chip current shortages for just a few FPS.

Will I upgrade my 3800x to a 5800x/5900x? Yes but not likely for a few years when the investment makes a bit more sense.

No complaints with my rig for gaming atm.

But do what you'd like.

What are your full system specs?

What games do you play and resolution you game at?

To see if your CPU is limiting performance right now, look at per core CPU utilization while gaming.
I have a 3700x with a kraken water cooler 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram 3070 gpu 1tb m.2 plus 2 more 500gb ssd 1000w psu. Main game is escape from tarkov but also play Warzone,pubg,valorant, and the res I play at is 1440p. I have a 1440p 240hz monitor.

5800x isn't noticeably better than a 5600x for games.

Again, check if your CPU is actually limiting you first, because I doubt it will, and if the CPU isn't the limit a better CPU will do nothing for performance.
