3870 temp

My friends 3870 is easily going over 80c. He says it sometimes goes over 100. This can't be safe. Graphics are failing at times. Is the fan dying or an issue with the fan not ramping up to speed?

Try downloading riva turner and upping the fan speed. It sounds like its set too low. Mine with a zelman cooler hits the high 30's and I've only seen it hit the low 40's C once in a blue moon.

Sometimes, re-applying the thermal paste is really help to cooling down your card...
Also, manually set the fan to higher speed is also help too.

Thanks all for the suggestions. But, i now got word the graphics are crapping out even when it runs 65 degrees Celsius. I'm trying to contact sapphire at the moment. This will be a long and painful process.

When the fan on my 7300GT died it hit 120C, definitely gave me the lols.

From the temp I would guess either the fan died or isn't picking up speed.
