Ryan closed videl's thread so i decided to re-open 😉

Much appreciated :)

agreed. I mean They still charge A huge amount of there old cards * 260+ and they dont even match the New ATI cards.

I just wish they'd release something so that the ATI prices would come back down a bit - I'd like to add a second 5770 in a few more months but was hoping the price would drop just a bit more - though now it's sounding more like the 5830 is going to be more closely priced to the 5850 and with no Nvidia card in that price range the 5770 is probably going to remain where it is if not inch up a bit more even.

what are you talking about 5770 is actually Reasonably priced. For the power it gives in Crossfire. Hell ya it is. 160$ for 5770 With Dx11 Gddr5 and massive overclocking ability It really is priced right.

Well while it is about right they were targeting a $125-$150 price point when they released ( I paid $154 shipped for the Sapphire card I have and the same model is now $184 + $7 Shipping ) So the price is a bit higher than it should be due to the lack of competition at that price point - while I agree the performance is good it still would be better at the original price point !!

Agreed - I mean I can remember paying $349 for my 7800GS AGP card when it was released and the performance there was nothing close to what the 5770 gives at half the price !

that was at the beginning of the year Of course those cards are going to be Ridiculously high priced

i remember the 8800GTX being 300 Maybe.

My pursuit of 16k has taken a serious hit....and yes, that is a complete test.....

my last run:

If you look close that last one is with my HD 4670 card... 🙁 I was having some terrible issues with stability and crashes that I started swapping componants out after being frustrated with adjusting everything I could think of and trying so many different drivers and such. When I got around to swapping out my XFX 4850, everything cleared up! So till I hear from XFX or RMA to Newegg I'm stuck with the HD 4670...

As a side note, isn't it amazing the difference from the 4670 to the 4850!

it really is..

Benson, quick question buddy... Does your B50 need that much voltage at 4Ghz? I run my B50 at 3.7/3.8 on a daily basis and it does not need more than 1.425v .... I use 1.485v when its at 4.1Ghz.. Have you tried lowering the volts a bit? 1.55v is kinda high for that clock.....

Yeah, I thought the same thing from when I had been following yours and videls original 14 page thread on the subject. Need to add here I really appreciate you, videl, overshocked and everyone else's patience in assisting us noobs at this stuff! I'm eventually going to get into asking some stuff about NB frequency as it relates to performance and actually heat produced by the cpu, but will save getting into that till another time...

My cpuid was one of those deals of just trying to see how high I could go, and that was the MAX voltage I ever went, and just got the ID and backed it down. On my 15788 3d run had the oc at 3.8 something and volts at 1.525, but again, that was a one off deal...

I really think needing that voltage was just masking some unstablity from my vid card to get it up that high. Since removing my card and using a differnt one I haven't had the time to play with the oc, but where I was needing 1.425 to be stable at 3.41 I'm now running 1.400 which is actualy 1.392 on my board... going to flog it this weekend and see what makes it happy 😀 I'm of a mind that the max I would run on a day to day basis is 1.425, and 1.400 is where I'd really like to keep it. My cpu just might not have the headroom to run 3.6 3.8 on a daily basis, but for a $95 chip, I'll be happy with 3.4/3.5 😉

Well if you need any help tweaking your CPU just us know 😉

I am almost done with the AM3 Overclocking Guide, hopefully I will roll it out the first or second week of March at the latest. Im aiming for the end of Feb but I have 2 projects to finish before I can finalize the guide.

I will be here helping out during the whole weekend so don't hesitate to ask anything [:jaydeejohn:5]
