Ryan closed videl's thread so i decided to re-open 😉

Much appreciated :)

Are you planning on going 3D vision with that 120Hz monitor?

well the reviews arent that great, specially since it is priced at 199.99$. And it does not work with most titles as of yet, seems more like a gimmick rather than an awesome breakthrough 🙁

The problem with the glasses is that the user needs to try them out first just to get an idea of what to expect. Would be nice to see a review that actually shows what they can do..Well there is one but it doesnt really show anything special :

hey guys, can someone tell me their opinion of this score?

e6750 OC'd to 3.2ghz
6gb pc2-6400 g.skill RAM (running at 400mhz)
radeon 5770

3dmark06 - 13,700

i was getting stock with the same setup 12,200, and with a radeon 3850 (still cpu was stock) 9,200.

is that a decent score for the setup? i know people are doing like 20,xxx+ these days, but my PC is about 2 years old and on stock voltage so give me a break 😛

Yea that score is right on par, you can get a higher score by bumping your CPU and GPU clocks 😉

thanks. yeah i saw the gpu charts on tomshardware and the sapphire 5770 got a 17,xxx in 3dmark06, but they didn't post the specs of the PC they were using, so i had no idea if my card was bad or if i just had a weaker processer. good to know now!

i will OC the 6750 more one day...i just OC'd for the first time the other day and it was very simple to get to 3.2ghz with great temps and not having to OC the RAM or up the voltages, so i like the simplicity of doing it for the first time and want to leave it that way for a little bit 😀

Well crap! My new Gigabyte GTX 260 Super Overclock started freezing and artifacting in less than a week (change PS, so thats not it). Its off to Newegg for a replacement, but in the meantime I stuck "Old Bessy" back in the PC - my 8800 GTX that I've had for over three years. I guess a little over 15K isn't bad for an OC'd 8800 GTX with the Phenom II.

The 17k is only achievable if your dual core is around 3.8/3.9/4Ghz when using a 5770/GTX260 😉 , the GPU clock also plays a large roll when trying to achieve the highest score possible.

Did you uninstall the display driver prior to installing the GTX 260?

Yup. Uninstalled the 8800 GTX, ran Driversweeper for both Nvidia drivers and PhysX. I was using 196.21, so this recent fan problem in the news with the current drivers wasn't a factor. Kind of a shame (and a little embarrassing considering how I bragged on it!). Newegg has a replacement only policy within 30 days, so we'll see how the next one does. I have a 750W PC Power & Cooling PS in the box now, so I know that wasn't the problem (replacing a 650W Antec). And the old 8800 GTX is working perfectly (as usual) and its as least as power hungry.

Well the PSU is out of the question since you can run a GTX 285 on your ANTEC 650x PSU,

Let us know the outcome once you recieve the replacement 😉

Well, Newegg was sold out of the Gigabyte GTX 260 Super Overclock model, so after I returned the defective one they just refunded me. I couldn't find another online, so I had to settle for a Gigabyte GTX 260 "Overclock", which is a good bit slower - 650/1400/1000 vs. 680/1500/1250. At least I got a pretty good deal on it - $174 after Bing cash back. I was able to OC the new card to the higher levels of the Super Overclock and it seemed stable on one pass through 3DMark06, so I will test it further to see if I can keep it at those levels. Here is the score with its factory clocks. Its about 400 points slower than the Super Overclock card:
