Here is my best at 3.6Ghz :

Ryan closed videl's thread so i decided to re-open 😉

Much appreciated :)

No - Vantage is written to where it favors the Nvidia based cards which have GPU Physx - the CPU tests think that the Physics calculations are being done on the CPU while in fact it is being co-processed using the GPU and therefore completely distorts the results (as those tests were designed to test the CPU only !!) - so you can not compare Vantage scores from system s with different brands of GPU as the results will be skewed heavily toward the Nvidia based system while in real world performance they may actually be weaker !!

that is correct, I wish Vantage was written to where it did not favor Nvidia, everyone tells me the same thing. Well at least 06 is fair AFAIK, would be nice to see a newer version of Vantage though (w/o PhysX bump), hope futuremark is listening =)

Temp monitoring with HW monitor, Just 4Mins of OCCT Sorry didn't have alot of time to test
HWMonitor seems to give roughly the same load temp readings as Core-Temp, but roughly 4-5C hotter idle Temps : /

Also the temp differance between the cores is less when monitoring with HWMonitor, Don't really know which program is more accurate.

quick question buddy, is it normal to go by individual core temp? Don't Intel users go by CPU temp?

The reason I ask is because as far as AMD goes, individual core temp means nothing (well at least IMO it doesnt) because one core will always be warmer than the other. Some just add up the 4 core temps and come up with an asumption of what their CPU temp is.

Everest makes it plain and simple (note : You cannot see my individual core temp cause my CPU is unlocked), but you can still see the CPU temp :

I've always gone by the individual core temps, I believe the core temps and the CPU temp are taken from different points on the CPU, and the Core temps are hotter than the CPU temp, So I go by the hottest temp and make sure it doesnt go past 73C

+ All the programs i use to monitor temps dnt show me a CPU temp, BTW I couldn't get Everest to work, The free version didn't have any sensors and the ultimate required a product key and said that my Trial period had expired.

Actually on my system the Core temps run 8-10C lower than the CPU temp -

temp02.jpg

Example from when I was running it with the 3 cores only once the 4th core is unlocked the individual core temps gets disabled (all values show 0C at all times !)

Good Question !! - I just go by the one that reports the highest on my system just to ensure my temps are safe - (just wish my darn Maxtor Sata HDD would cooperate as it runs hotter than the rest of my system - Guess I need to add another fan blowing directly on it !)

Meh, I just go by CPU temp since my cores stay cold anyways. Of course monitoring your individual core temp is necessary just like you pointed out but only when you are pushing the CPU to it's limits.

To omgitzfatal :

If you removed the mobo battery then yes your trial will show show as expired since the system will reset the date and time.

As far as paste goes I recommend the MX-2 / MX-3 / Gelid Extreme over AS5 or any other paste. Of course there are more expensive solutions but they won't provide much of a difference IMO.

Well the spec says it can run in 0 to 60C but idling at 40C and going to 54C when being used is getting a bit too close for what I like ! (esp. since my ambient temp goes up several more degrees come summertime here in Texas !) - SO before then I'll be seeing what I can do to lower it a bit. (figure it may just need to be moved lower in the cage so the front fan blows onto it instead of under it !)
